David Bowie - Future Legend / Diamond Dogs

Excellent choice, I was just thinking about this one yesterday.

Excellent collection.
It did come out well, better than I'd hoped when we were collecting the
songs. But by the time we had enough and it was time to curate, it went
together so smoothly that they just seemed to fall into place.

In a way it's like assembling a poetry anthology; individual poems may
not be that impressive on their own, but they all gain in significance
by their placement, by how they work with each other. This one starts
very mellow and upbeat, and the songs get progressively darker and more
raucous as one goes along - but I find that when I listen to it all the
way through, even the death metal at the end (something I'd probably
never listen to on its own) becomes not only listenable but positively
enjoyable.

Same question as with Marianne Faithfull; is there enough music? I'd
prefer to do an RIP one this week, as they're easier to curate; but I
know just two songs by her (her version of "The First Time" being the
other one).

I suppose you're right, unlike Marriane Faithful, Roberta Flack never
did stage the comeback later, sadly enough.

"Killing Me Softly" really touched me in 1971 or 1972, but we can't
really get a Dancehall out of one or two songs.

I looked her up on Wikipedia. She did have a long career; but I'm afraid
I don't know most of the songs they mentioned. I'll do a scan on YT and
see what's available in video.

I drifted away from her through the years, unfortunately.

But "Killing Me Softly" did touch me deeply, I'll admit as a young lad I
found it very erotic in a "hot for teacher" kind of way

I remember exactly the moment I first heard it back when it wS an AM
radio hit, 1971 or 1972.

I have 26 songs of one type or another (live, lyrics, fanvideo). If we
can use them all that will be fine. And there may be more. So we'll do
it.
